The aroma of freshly brewed coffee filled the small kitchen as Amelia hummed, pulling a loaf of sourdough from the oven. Steam curled around her face, warming her cheeks. She carefully sliced the bread, the crust crackling satisfyingly under the knife. Sunlight streamed through the window, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air. A sudden knock at the door.

She opened it to find a delivery person holding a bouquet of vibrant sunflowers. No card. A small smile played on her lips as she accepted the flowers, the bright yellow petals lifting her spirits instantly. Placing them in a vintage vase, she felt a comfortable lightness settle within her.
